How to Use Cricut: A Beginner’s Guide to Start Crafting

 Want to know how to use Cricut? Last month, I made a bunch of Cricut projects. One of them is shirt design, which I will briefly discuss at the end of this blog. But what if you just got a new Cricut machine? How do you successfully make a project on it? Well, that’s what I am going to discuss in this post. We will first start with the Cricut setup and then move on to creating an incredible project.

The Procedure to Setup a Cricut Machine

Before moving on to learning how to use Cricut, I will first explain how to setup the Cricut. This is essential if you are a beginner crafter and are also reading this blog. Now, let’s start setting the Cricut machine up on a Windows PC:

Step 1: Connect Cricut via Bluetooth

  1. Plug all the machine cables into the wall outlet and turn on the PC as well.
  2. On your PC, you have to find the Settings > Devices option.

  1. After that, enable Bluetooth. Now, tap on Add Bluetooth or other device.

  1. Next, a window will appear where you have to choose Bluetooth.
  2. Then, wait and check if your PC finds the nearby devices.

  1. Once your Cricut model is found in the search list, select it to pair.

Step 2: Download Cricut Design Space on a Device

  1. Turn on the PC and open a browser.
  2. You need to search the Start menu for Chrome or another internet browser.
  3. After that, you have to navigate the browser search bar and type the URL design.cricut.com.
  4. Then, you need to hit the Enter key on your keyboard.
  5. Next, you will be directed to a page where you need to find a checkbox and click on it.
  6. Now, click on the Download tab and begin downloading your Cricut app right away. 

  1. Once you have downloaded the Cricut software, head to the Downloads folder.
  2. There, find the downloaded file and double-click on it to install it.

  1. Wait for the installation and sign in with your Cricut ID and password.

Step 3: Finish the Cricut Setup

  1. Open the Cricut Design app and click on Product Setup.

  1. Next, you will need to create a Cricut account or sign in.
  2. Afterward, hit the Smart Cutting Machine.
  1. Now, choose your Cricut model, and your setup is done.

 

How to Use Cricut: Easy-To-Follow Steps

Once you have setup your Cricut machine, follow the steps below to use it. Here, I will create a simple shirt design for Cricut. Let’s start!

  1. To get started, launch a Cricut Design Space.
  2. Then, you need to click on New Project.
  1. After that, choose templates from the given sidebar.
  2. Now, search for a T-shirt and choose the Classic T-shirt design.
  1. Next, you will need to upload the image to Canvas and modify it using various tools.
  2. Choose operations from the top ribbon bar and then proceed by clicking on the Make It button.
  3. Also, you have to mirror the design and select the apt materials to cut.
  4. Press the Go button on your Cricut machine to start cutting the design.
  5. Once done, unload the mat and weed the design.
  6. Afterward, preheat the shirt and place the cut design on it.
  7. Lastly, press it using a Cricut EasyPress machine.
